Well there is definitely no better place to find inspiration for this little short that I am doing then Disney World. And let me tell you that even after the grueling day of wading through tourists, waiting in line, and just generally trying not to kill my sweet little girls (Who aren't so sweet after a day at the park) that I was very inspired by some of the great attractions. I actually found inspiration in some of the strangest places.
The most bizarre was, well lets just say that I told my wife "If I don't make it to heaven, this is where I will end up." Yeah, It's a small world is that bad, yet there was something very cool about it this time. And I won't even go into how the ride stopped for like 10 minutes just to torture me even further. Next time I will have to take my iPod or at least load up half an hour on my phone and I will love it. Anyway, it was the first time I actually stopped and looked around and there is some pretty cool characters there. Even though it did not fit the style I am shooting for, my bigger plan for this project is to take Cooper's stories into other styles. So I made some mental notes just in case.
But the big one was one I had never seen before; Mickey's PhilharMagic. It was done in 3D and was a college of different musical tunes from various movies. Now I have always had a soft spot for the good Disney Musicals like Aladdin, Lion King, and even Beauty and the Beast and this had them all. Throw in the reproduction of the characters in 3D and I was just loving it. I do have to admit that the characters did loose a little bit of their original charm in 3D but still I liked them a lot.
Also worth mentioning was the new Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I actually thought it was pretty funny, but when I realized that it was real time rendering because of the interaction with the crowd, I was really digging it. This also explained why Sully is not in the show.
In any case this leads me to the actual point of this post. Even if I don't wind up using it I thought of maybe a crush from a female character that would end up being a short musical skit where the girl is all mushy and gets a typical response from a pubescent boy full of insults and disdain.
I would love to do something like this, but I am really pushing the envelope on it because of music. Voicing would be possible with myself and my daughter, not that I have a great voice or anything, but I think enough to pull it off. Especially with my daughters voice to carry the whole skit. But I know no composers and that is the tricky part. Maybe I can find some old Operas to borrow melodies from or something. I will start looking into it and report back here if it is truly dooable or not and if it even fits in.
